| Volunteer to Interview WORX Applicants |
|
Support the Eastin Family WORX Internship Program by volunteering to interview student applicants for the program! The interview process is an essential component of the program, providing our students with invaluable practice, constructive feedback, and helping to ensure they are matched to an internship opportunity that best fits their career interests. We need parent volunteers to conduct virtual interviews on Saturday, January 24, Saturday, January 31, and Saturday, February 7. There will be a virtual orientation before the start of each interview session for new volunteers. While we greatly appreciate our community members' willingness to volunteer, we kindly request that parents of current ESD juniors refrain from volunteering to ensure equity for all applicants. Your support makes a tangible difference in the lives of our student applicants! Click the button below to view available slots and sign up today! If you have any questions, please reach out to Asia Hawkins ’13, Eastin Family WORX Internship Program Partner Liaison. |
Pondering Purpose and Impact
Our fourth graders used their novel study of Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio by Peg Kegret to inspire their creation of blankets for children receiving treatment at Scottish Rite. The novel helped them build empathy, and the blankets provided a tangible way to act on this empathy.
Pause and Ponder: Empathy in Action
- For younger students: Think of someone you would like to help. How can you find out what they might need or want? How can you use this new information to better help them?
- For older children, teenagers, and adults: How can we ensure our service efforts are motivated by empathy and grounded in understanding the needs and wants of others? How does our empathy and understanding increase the impact of our actions?
