Grades 5–8 Application Steps

Create your Veracross Account
  • You must create an account in Veracross to start/complete your application and sign up for any events. You are welcome to tour before starting an application (although attending a tour is not a required application step).
  • Once you pay your $25 application fee, you will then see a personal checklist for each application.
Complete your Online Application
  • Part 1 is due on January 11, 2027. This includes: application fee, family and student information, family and student photo, and parent statement.
  • Part 2 is due on February 1, 2027. This includes: student visit, ISEE test scores, teacher evaluations, and school records.
Schedule ISEE Testing
  • Applicants for grades 5-8 are administered the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). ESD will be offering an in-person ISEE testing option on January 9, 2027. Your applicant may also register with any of the other schools offering this testing option, or the test can be taken at home online. Your child will only take the ISEE one time.
  • How to register:
    • Visit the ISEE Webpage
    • Create a Parent Account
    • Add Student
    • Select 'Search and Register for Available Tests' under Next Steps and follow prompts under Registration Settings
    • Indicate if you are looking for an at-home test option or an in-person test and select your desired date, time, and location
    • Follow all prompts to successfully register your applicant for their ISEE test
  • ISEE Tests must be taken on or before February 1, 2027, in order to meet application deadlines. You will need to provide ESD's school code 447503 for the scores to be released.
  • Fee waivers are available for those who qualify; please reach out to Megan Schroeder at schroederm@esdallas.org for more information.
Schedule Student Visit
  • Each applicant will complete a student visit as a required part of the application. Once you pay your application fee, Megan Schroeder will reach out to schedule a student visit that is convenient for your family.
  • Applicants will complete their written student statement while on campus. The student statement is a short-answer worksheet to help the admission committee get to know the applicant better.
Current School Forms and Evaluations
  • In Veracross, you will see checklist items for your Teacher Evaluation and Records Release.
  • The Teacher Evaluations form will be available to send on November 1, 2026. You will enter the email address for your applicant’s current math and English teachers, and the confidential forms will be emailed to the teachers automatically. The evaluations are due back to ESD by February 1, 2027.
  • The Records Release form will be available to download on January 5, 2027. All records are due back to ESD by February 1, 2027.
Explore an Optional Tuition Assistance Application
  • Tuition Assistance applications are due February 15, 2027. Please reach out to Shelle Montgomery at montgomerys@esdallas.org with questions.
Admission Decision
  • An admission decision of either accept, wait pool, or decline will be released on March 12, 2027, to all applicants who completed their applications by February 1, 2027.
