Third-Grade Eagle Turns a Love of 3D Printing into a Business
October 16, 2026
One of ESD’s Lower School students has always enjoyed building and creating things. His interest in 3D printing began in first grade, when he received his first printer as a Christmas gift. Soon, he was reading books about 3D design and exploring how to turn his hobby into a business.
After upgrading to a more advanced printer in second grade, he launched a 3D print shop, first selling his creations to friends and at lemonade stands. Looking for ways to grow his business, he found a bigger storefront close to home: his products are now sold in The Eagles Nest, The Episcopal School of Dallas’s campus store.
This third-grader friend manages every aspect of his business, from selecting designs and printing products to tracking inventory and fulfilling orders. He recently had the opportunity to share his creations with Amy Livingston, Upper School History Teacher and Business, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing Network Coordinator, and her accounting class, giving students a firsthand look at the work behind his young business.
What began as a childhood interest has grown into an entrepreneurial venture that allows our Lower School Eagle to share his creativity with the ESD community while gaining practical experience in business ownership. Through his business venture, he is discovering how curiosity and initiative can turn an idea into something tangible.
