Happy Labor Day! August ended with some good rains! We'll still have hot weather, but after the Equinox on August 22, the nights will quickly become longer than the days. Then our real Fall will start to arrive!
Evening Skies: The Summer Triangle still shines overhead, but as the month goes on, it will set earlier and earlier. Fall stars will begin to appear later in the month, led by Saturn.
Full Moon: September 7.
Morning Skies: Venus and Jupiter lead the fall and winter stars as they rise before the sun. The constellation Orion and Sirius, the Dog Star, are to the southeast.
Quarry/Outdoors: Chimney Swifts and Swallows are still here, but there are signs that fall is coming. Hummingbirds are starting to move through as flowering plants change with the season, and early flights of Teal will show up in a couple of weeks. The photo is of a Mallard resting at the Quarry.
Head outside for a look whenever you can!
