Sky Watch, October- The Episcopal School of Dallas | Best Private Schools in Dallas

The Equinox has come and gone, and at least the mornings are getting cooler... October is here! Let's hope that we get some more rain soon!

Evening Skies: Saturn is visible in the southeast, near Fomalhaut, also known as the "Fall Star." It's up most of the night, following the Summer Triangle across the sky. A small telescope will show the rings!

Full Moon: October 6 - Harvest Moon.

Morning Skies: Jupiter and Venus are the bright "Morning Stars." The fall and winter stars, Orion and company, are with them and come up earlier every day....a good sign!

Quarry/Outdoors: There's plenty to watch and listen to as we move into autumn. Crows and Jays harassing Hawks, Teal swooping in on early cold fronts, Screech Owls haunting the twilight as Halloween approaches! Still, the best sign of fall in Texas is a Monarch Butterfly! They are starting to come through right now on their incredible migration to Mexico!

I often think of Fr. Swann in October. It's always a great time to get outdoors and remember old friends!!
