Science, Service, and Spooks: Halloween 2026 at ESD - The Episcopal School of Dallas | Best Private Schools in Dallas

October 30, 2026

Halloween festivities have been taking place at The Episcopal School of Dallas over the past two weeks, giving students plenty of opportunities to celebrate through academics, creativity, service, and a little friendly competition.

In the Middle School, theater students took to the stage with two spooky productions. Fifth graders presented their biannual mime show, “A Haunted Hike,” following a group of individuals as they ventured out on a haunted trail. Seventh-grade theater students also shared a special Halloween performance, showcasing their creativity and growing confidence on stage.

The Halloween spirit made its way into the classroom, too. AP Psychology students got an early start on their Halloween candy during a lesson on the structure of the neuron. Using an assortment of sweets, students recreated the different parts of a neuron, putting their knowledge to the test with a creative (and tasty) approach to learning. Meanwhile, orchestra students prepared a collection of ghoulish tunes that they performed for their classmates during Middle and Upper School chapel, adding a musical touch to the campus celebrations.

Service was another part of the festivities. The Upper School Community Service Council partnered with Lower School students to assemble Halloween-themed treat baskets for the faculty and staff at Foster Elementary. It was a fun way for students across divisions to work together and share a little seasonal cheer with members of the Dallas community.

There was no shortage of creativity across campus, either! Fourth graders took part in their annual pumpkin decorating contest, while Middle and Upper School students put their artistic skills to work in a pumpkin decorating competition in the library. The Girls in Engineering and Robotics Society (GEARS) also hosted a Halloween mixer, bringing Middle and Upper School students together to decorate pumpkins and connect. Upper School members shared their experiences with younger students, answering questions about high school and offering insight into getting involved in robotics at ESD.

And, of course, Halloween wouldn't be complete without costumes! Students, faculty, and staff across campus joined in the fun, showing off costumes ranging from creative to downright spooky. The Middle School continued its longstanding advisory Halloween costume contest tradition, while Upper School students participated in their second year of advisories, joining the costume competition this year.

From the classroom to the stage, the library to the lab, Halloween offered plenty of reasons for Eagles to come together and enjoy the season. We wish our ESD community a safe, fun, and happy Halloween weekend!
