The Karen and Steven Boulware Family

The Episcopal School of Dallas is pleased to announce a generous gift to establish the Karen and Steven Boulware Family Endowment, which endows an annual teaching award recognizing excellence in middle school education. The Boulware Family Teaching Award is the first endowed award at ESD, created specifically to honor middle school faculty and to spotlight the teachers who are shaping the minds and character of students at a critical stage in their development.
Karen and Steven Boulware were inspired by their encouraging interactions with the school. "We've been so pleased with every part of our family's experience at The Episcopal School of Dallas—it truly feels top-notch," the couple shared. "We feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity our children have to attend and be part of this community, and we want to do all we can to support the school in return."
“Middle school is a pivotal and often challenging time for students, and the guidance and inspiration they receive from their teachers can profoundly shape their future. This teaching award illuminates the incredible work our middle school faculty do every day,” said Hobson Family Head of School, Dave Baad. “We are grateful to Karen and Steven for their generosity and their commitment to our school and our talented educators.”
The Episcopal School of Dallas is what it is today because of the vision, hard work, and generosity of those who came before. Karen and Steven view their contribution as a way to honor the legacy of the faculty, staff, and administrators who built ESD while ensuring the school's continued strength for future generations. “By ‘paying it forward,’ our hope is that our gift helps ESD continue the wonderful work being done today while growing even stronger for the students and families who will follow," Karen affirmed.
Offering advice to others considering establishing an endowment fund, Steven emphasized the power of gratitude. "For us, establishing the Karen and Steven Boulware Family Endowment was a way to express thankfulness for the opportunities our children have at ESD and to help pass those same opportunities on to future families."
