Inspiring Excellence: National Honor Society Inducts New Members

The Episcopal School of Dallas Upper School community gathered to celebrate scholarship, leadership, service, and character as it formally inducted its newest members into the National Honor Society (NHS). The afternoon service highlighted the dedication of students who have exemplified the core tenets of the organization both inside and outside the classroom. Faculty, peers, and family members joined together to honor the inductees for their academic excellence and commitment to the school community.
Upper School History Teacher and NHS sponsor Marc Salz expressed, “NHS offers students an opportunity to challenge themselves as leaders and scholars before they gain admittance, and to benefit the community after they become members through the blood drive, fundraisers, and tutoring assistance.” He added, “After our first meeting today, the positive energy, interest, and enthusiasm of the students are indicative of the hallmarks of the finest ESD students. It's going to be a great year of service and leadership from the Class of 2027.”
ESD alumnus and former NHS member Ben Lowry ’21 drew from his own journey through ESD and beyond. Lowry spoke to the inductees about how the four pillars of the NHS continue to shape personal growth and service long after graduation.
The ceremony concluded with the traditional lighting of candles representing each pillar, symbolic of the bright futures ahead for the new inductees as they carry forward the values of the honor society.
