ESD Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Alumni Panel and Traditions - The Episcopal School of Dallas | Best Private Schools in Dallas

October 15, 2026

As Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close, The Episcopal School of Dallas reflected on a month filled with vibrant cultural traditions, shared stories, and meaningful connections across campus.

In the Lower School, students gathered for a special Nest Assembly on October 2, where Hispanic faculty and staff took the stage to share personal stories, family backgrounds, and cherished cultural traditions. The interactive experience gave young Eagles a deeper appreciation for the familiar faces who guide them every day.

On Wednesday, October 14, the student organization Latinos Unidos brought a sweet taste of tradition to the Middle and Upper School communities, handing out traditional Mexican frozen treats known as “paletas,” bringing smiles and authentic flavor to campus.

The celebration culminated on Thursday, October 15, when three ESD alumni returned home to share how their formative years on campus helped shape their paths. The alumni panel, titled Passing It On: Purpose Across Generations, took center stage during Middle and Upper School chapel services.

The returning Eagles featured a dynamic lineup of young professionals:

  • Alán Benítez ’20, Policy Analyst for Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Elba García in District 4
  • Jesús De Santiago ’20, Analyst at Fairmount Energy
  • Melissa Rivera ’19, Marketing Business Partner at AEG Vision and Licensed Real Estate Agent

Moderated by Director of Eastin Family Purpose and Impact Claire Reddig in Middle School chapel and Sheridan Bailey ’27 in Upper School chapel, the panel offered candid reflections on navigating life after graduation. The alumni discussed the unique ways ESD helped ground their sense of purpose and offered heartfelt guidance to current students still charting their own journeys.

Together, these moments provided the ESD community with rich opportunities to learn from one another, honor diverse perspectives, and celebrate the shared values that continue to unite generations of Eagles.
