Engineering and Architecture Students Shine at TSA State Competition
May 2, 2025
Earlier this spring, students from both our Middle and Upper School Engineering and Architecture classes competed in the Texas Technology Student Association (TSA) state competition in Fort Worth and delivered an extraordinary performance.
The competition was intense, with more than 170 schools across Texas participating in categories such as Photography, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and more. Our students exceeded expectations and brought home an impressive collection of awards.
Middle School:
Although our middle school team couldn't attend the live events due to the Galveston trip, their pre-submitted projects stood out among 51 middle schools from across the state. A massive thank-you to Ms. Darnell for ensuring that next year we'll be able to compete in person!
In our debut year, the middle school students earned an incredible 15 top-10 finishes:
- 4 First Place
- 4 Second Place
- 2 Third Place
- 3 Fourth Place
- 2 Fifth Place
These results demonstrate our students' creativity, hard work, and resilience. This is an incredible accomplishment, as this is ESD’s first year as a chapter at TSA. We're proud of their achievements and excited to see how far they’ll go next year.
Upper School:
Our high school students competed alongside 170 Texas high schools in various STEM-related events. In a particularly competitive field, Cindy Lin ‘25 stood out with her exceptional animation work, winning two events — a remarkable achievement that placed her projects among the best in the state.
The competition results speak volumes about our students' talent and dedication. Their success sets a strong foundation for future competitions and showcases the strength of our growing Engineering and Architecture program.
Congratulations to all of our Technology Student Association competitors! We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish next.
