This September, we're celebrating alumni who have come back home to ESD as full-time faculty and staff. Up first is Trenton Wesson '08, ESD's Athletics/Game Day Coordinator, who has traded his student-athlete days for a front-row seat to the next generation of Eagles.
A Community Centered in the "Kid Business"
For Trenton, working in athletics isn't just about running a smooth game day — it's about staying focused on why the job exists in the first place.
I'm in the kid business," Trenton says. "Making sure my purpose is to grow student-athletes.
That mindset shapes how he sees his role at ESD: not just preparing students for the next level of competition, but for life beyond it. "Knowing that ESD is not only prepping the student for college, but also life" is what makes the work worthwhile, he says — and knowing he's making an impact on students every day is what feels most meaningful to him right now.
The ESD Foundation: Community that Stays
Trenton says the best part of coming back to work here has been the community — and specifically, seeing many of the same teachers who shaped him still on campus.
That through-line, from student to staff member, is part of what makes his ESD story feel full circle. His favorite ESD tradition, fittingly, is Senior Rally Days.

Purpose: Growing the Student-Athlete
Trenton's definition of purpose is rooted in community and growth — making sure every student-athlete he works with is being developed as a whole person, not just a competitor.
Outside of ESD, Trenton spends his time with family, thinking about the students he's responsible for, and simply relaxing.
