Our September series celebrating alumni who've returned to ESD as full-time faculty and staff continues with Annie Walker '20, ESD's Admission Coordinator, who has come full circle from student to now welcoming the next generation of Eagles through the door.
Pouring Back into the Place that Shaped Her
For Annie, purpose is about direction and meaning — and returning to ESD has given her a unique way to live that out.
My personal definition of purpose is something that gives your life meaning and direction," she says. "Being able to return to ESD as a member of the faculty and now as a staff member has been meaningful, as I feel I am able to pour back into the place and the people who made me who I am today.
That sense of purpose shows up most clearly in her work with prospective families. "Getting to share the magic of ESD with our prospective families is very meaningful to me," she says. "It is such an amazing place with an exceptional community, and it has been very impactful and joyous for me to get to share this with others."
The ESD Foundation: Friendship that Lasts
For Annie, the highlights of her ESD experience have always been about people — the lifelong friendships she made as a student, along with the teachers, advisors, club sponsors, college guidance counselors, and coaches who shaped her along the way.
Now on the other side of that relationship as a staff member, she says she remains inspired by "the committed and dedicated individuals who continue to devote their time to our mission." Her favorite ESD tradition is Pass It On.

Purpose: Sharing the Magic
When asked about the best part of working at ESD, Annie points to the people she works alongside every day: "Being a part of amazing teams of people who make work fun!"
Outside of ESD, Annie enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and trying new restaurants.
