Paper for Water Project
A focus of the fifth-grade curriculum is natural resources. To better align our students' classroom activities with their service learning projects, we initiated a partnership with Paper For Water, a local organization working to make a global impact to address clean water access.

Paper for Water, born out of the desire of two Dallas children, Isabelle and Katherine, helps other children worldwide who do not get to go to school because they spend their days hauling water. Using something as simple as paper, and creating beautiful origami pieces, Paper For Water is working to help children in developing countries gain access to clean water and sanitation. Our students met with representatives from Paper for Water earlier this year to not only learn about the global water crisis, but to practice making origami to prepare for their service learning project. Students will work to create origami pieces throughout the year, starting with ornaments for the holiday season, to not only raise funds to build a well in a developing country, but also raise awareness among our community about such an important issue. This project seeks to empower our students with skills in leadership, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship. |
Donate & Support
The fifth-grade class has a goal of raising $500 to build a water well in a developing country of their choice based on current needs. We ask for your help in reaching this goal by making a suggested donation of $6.50 and in return, a handmade origami ornament will be given to you as a thank you gift. Your donation will be billed to your incidental account.
