Foundational skills in number sense: recognition of numbers, formation of numerals, patterns, spatial reasoning, real-world explorations: puzzles, counters, one-to-one correspondence, dramatic play

Focuses on number sense in a variety of modalities. Recognizing numerals and how to compose them, connecting numbers to concrete manipulatives and understanding how they work together. Developing spatial reasoning skills through puzzles, block building, and tangrams helps to teach young children to visualize, recognize patterns and problem solve.

Starting in Kindergarten, ESD uses The Everyday Math Program 4th Edition as its foundational mathematics curriculum. Numbers and numeration, operation and computation, data and chance, measurement and reference frames, geometry, patterns, functions and algebra. Interactive games, calendar lessons, independent math journals, spatial reasoning.
