Senior Retreat, a special tradition at ESD

Student Author: Amanda Warren '18

The ESD senior class '18 just returned from our Senior retreat at Wolf Run:

It was a great way to start the year and we really connected as a class. Photographed below is the candle-lighting ceremony. The light from the senior candle will be used again at the end of the year at Pass It On, to represent the seniors passing down the responsibilities and traditions to the next wave of students.

4th Grade Cupcake Competition

Student Author: ESD Fourth Graders

Today, ESD fourth graders participated in a Leadership Institute lead by eleven seniors.  They still had to work through lunch by coming up with a group theme to decorate their cupcakes and then present to the whole grade. Some decoration idea included:

  • Number 8 - 8 group members and an 8 also looks like an infinity symbol representing the infinite possibilities we have
  • Greatest Fear - if we decorate our cupcake as our fear, once we eat them it means we conquer our fears
  • Color Circles - each color represents each one of our group members and the circles show that even though we are all unique we are all working together
