ESD held a student-led 'Shark Tank' a couple of weeks ago that many great ideas came out of! Middle School students had a bake sale today during lunch to help raise money to implement all of the great ideas to our Middle School curriculum. We are excited to bring our ideas to life!

3D "Primer" Printing

Faculty Author: Mrs. Campbell, Primer teacher

Through close collaboration with Mr. Cogliandro in the "What If?" Lab, the inquisitive minds of Primer students were introduced to the fundamentals of 3D printing. Over several classes, the basics of 3D printing were introduced in detail through project-based activities, research, and numerous test prints. Students chose their first 3D object to be bird-calling whistles to be used in our Primer musical, Cuckoo. After research and prototyping, they chose two templates: one in the shape of a quail and the other a flat whistle that mimics the sounds of a duck. Primer utilized TinkerCAD and two 3D printers to bring their whistles to life. After completing the process, students reflected on their experience during writer's workshop. On performance day, Primer began the musical with their carefully crafted creations. It was a hit!

Wolf Run Joint Trip

Faculty Author: Mr. Burnett, Engineering and Robotics Teacher

Yesterday, a joint Middle and Upper School environmental science field project took place at Wolf Run. The goal was to
conduct a massive soil and water analysis of Wolf Run and document on a map the overall results of this analysis. Pictured here are the seniors working with fifth-graders, showing them how to conduct soil and water test. I am so proud of our hard-working students for working together and demonstrating leadership!
