Strong Sense of Community

Faculty Author: Mr. Eason, Director of Outdoor Education

I came across this gem while preparing slides for our third Hallmark session 'Strong Sense of Community'. This image is from Page 1 in Carillon, our first senior yearbook in 1980. This picture is a testament to our school being founded on the hallmark of being an inclusive and welcoming community.

The Importance of Hospitality

Faculty Author: Mrs. Fahrenbrook, Assistant Head of Middle School

Mrs. Wabrek gave a chapel talk on 'hospitality' and shared stories of her Granny and how she exemplifies hospitality. She talked about the founder and owner of Shake Shack and his restaurant philosophy of “enlightened hospitality.” He says, “Hospitality, as I define it, is very simple. It all comes down to one preposition - "for". If you feel like the other guy did something for you, that's hospitality."

She also baked cookies for all Middle School students, using her Granny's recipe, as an example of being hospitable!

2018 Homecoming

Student Author: Ashley Carter '19

Even though we lost the game, 2018 Homecoming was such a blast. On Friday, the seniors on varsity cheer and football had a fantastic time at the Lower School pep rally. The kids really enjoyed the dance party at the end! It was a great way to boost the spirit before the big game! The Upper and Middle School pep rally was also a huge hit! The drum line led the students from the classrooms to the football field. This brought excitement to everyone! #GoEagles #SchoolSpirit

It's day two of the sixth-grade trip to Washington D.C. and friends are having fun! Today, sixth-graders are in Williamsburg, VA exploring the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area. A field trip wouldn't be complete without a stop at the candy store!

Halloween Homecoming

Student Author: Claire Groves '20

Some ESD varsity cheerleaders are pictured here painting a sign for the “spooky” themed Homecoming. The cheerleaders get to design, paint, and hang up their sign for the whole school to see. The sign reminds the community of when and where the Homecoming game is taking place. Go Eagles!
