Physics in the Fam

Former ESD student (and my brother!), Price Mulford, visited Mr. Varvir’s AP Physics I class today to discuss his job as an engineer for Firefly Aerospace in Austin, Texas. He explained how a rocket works using principles that students had been studying throughout the year. He also showed test fires of their new engine!

Senior Dog Day

Faculty Author: Jeff Laba, Assistant Head of Upper School

Today was "Dog Day," when the seniors got to bring their dogs to campus for a little bit.  I made sure to let the seniors know if any of their dogs misbehaved to please have a conversation with it, and refer the matter to the senior dean for resolution!

Pass it On

Faculty Author: Office of Admission

The Class of 2018 welcomed the Class of 2022 into Upper School yesterday in one of ESD's oldest and most treasured traditions, Pass It On. Gregg Whiteman '81, whose son is a rising freshman, presented the history of the ceremony. Emma Cabrales '18, student body president, offered a heartfelt homily. Bill Cook, who is retiring this year after teaching at ESD for 35 years, lit the candle.

ESDN was on hand to livestream the ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwYLY65waAc

First-grade friends visited the Merrell Road Campus yesterday. Their day included hiking around the Quarry, learning its history, collecting water samples, and examining findings under microscopes. Before we know it, we will have Beginner - fourth-grade friends here every day and we can't wait!

Women's Lacrosse FTW!

Student Author: Biz Newsom '20

Sunday was the district final game for women's lacrosse, and a few classmates and I went to the game in Coppell. They beat Highland Park by 4 points to claim the district championship title! Both teams will advance to the state tournament that is being held in Austin. It is always fun to watch the former state champions compete!
