Campfire Community

PhotoSPIN(ach)thesis

In AP Biology, we tested the effect of colors on the rate of photosynthesis using spinach leaves! We discovered that the different wavelengths of the photons (colors) does indeed effect the rate of photosynthesis because the pigments in the leaves only want certain colors.

Writers Workshop Surprise

Winning Streak

Less than a week ago, the ESD Competition Cheer Team competed and became national champions for the 3rd year in a row! This team is composed of girls and boys from 9th through 12th grade. We all work together and push each other to be the best we possibly can be, and we are glad to know our dedication paid off! Go Eagles! Talons out!

Say Cheese!

Today in Photography, I got to photograph my friend Lily on large format film. I am about to learn the process of solarization because I admire photographers like Man Ray who often solarize their photos. The film development process begins tomorrow and I am looking forward to adding these images to my portfolio!

The Wheels on the Bike

Today in Honors Physics, Mr. R used bicycle wheels to demonstrate how rotational motion works. He used hands-on learning to teach students how the bike wheel is able to stay balanced because of rotational motion!

Smart City

Today, the junior and senior classes listened to the co-founder of Dallas Innovation Alliance, Ms. Jennifer Sanders, as part of the Dedman Lecture Series. Sanders is one of the many Dedman Lecture speakers to come talk to the ESD upper school students throughout the years. The students were enlightened on how DIA is taking steps to make Dallas a “Smarter City”.
