A Day On, Not Off

Student Authors: Penelope North '21 and Jordan Aikman '20

Yesterday, current ESD 8th graders worked side-by-side with 9th-grade applicants in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. They worked to make Valentine’s Day hearts to pair with Meals on Wheels food deliveries and help box school supplies for Family Legacy schools in Zambia. Thank you to all Class of 2023 students who came out to serve the community!

These are a few of our favorite traditions

Student Author: Abby Brand '20

The tradition continues - can you feel the Christmas spirit? Seniors and their fifth-grade buddies wore holiday sweaters and hats today as they enjoyed decorating trees and time together! Upper schoolers all wore holiday socks and accessories for our “seventh day of Christmas”, too!

Here are some of our 8th grade and Upper School Ambassadors helping prepare for Admission Preview, where all prospective parents and families came to visit our campus. Strong Sense of Community

Faculty Author: Mr. Eason, Director of Outdoor Education

I came across this gem while preparing slides for our third Hallmark session 'Strong Sense of Community'. This image is from Page 1 in Carillon, our first senior yearbook in 1980. This picture is a testament to our school being founded on the hallmark of being an inclusive and welcoming community.

The Importance of Hospitality

Faculty Author: Mrs. Fahrenbrook, Assistant Head of Middle School

Mrs. Wabrek gave a chapel talk on 'hospitality' and shared stories of her Granny and how she exemplifies hospitality. She talked about the founder and owner of Shake Shack and his restaurant philosophy of “enlightened hospitality.” He says, “Hospitality, as I define it, is very simple. It all comes down to one preposition - "for". If you feel like the other guy did something for you, that's hospitality."

She also baked cookies for all Middle School students, using her Granny's recipe, as an example of being hospitable!
