Real life science experiment just outside our window!

Ms. Neil's 5th grade science class dropped what they were doing and came running when they heard about a large spider devouring a locust in it's web in the Quarry Courtyard window. Ms. Neil explained that the spider would turn the locust guts to liquid and then suck them out. We talked about how the exoskeleton would then simply dry out and be useless. We went outside to take pics of the spider so we could go back to class and identify what kind of spider it is. This is my first year at ESD and it was really cool to run out of class and go learn from something you don't see everyday.
