The sixth annual Phil Pressey Basketball Skills Academy was terrific again this year, a slam dunk way to start Summer'19!
In addition to developing their skills on the court, campers focused on character and teamwork, affirmed by five words of the day. These words, like consistency and hope, helped inspire positive attitudes and perspectives. Three special guests, Coach Rob Evans, former college coach and current special assistant to the AD at SMU; Justin Forsett, retired NFL player, and former NBA All Star and Mavs favorite Jason "The Jet" Terry, carried these key messages forward. Each shared insight on working hard, depending on yourself, and being prepared.
"I'm thankful for the coaches, special guests, campers, and parents who made this year a great success," said Coach Henderson. "The Words of the Day helped set the tone and purpose. And the words of wisdom from our special guests were right on time and perfect for our group of campers this year."
Alumni on the coaching staff included Phil Pressey '10, Corey Henderson Jr. '14, and Trenton Wesson '08. Several Upper School players also assisted. This is Phil's sixth year to host the camp at ESD, he currently plays professionally for Beşiktaş of the Turkish Basketball Super League.
