A Message from Peter Lutken:
A cool and wet month of May, but summer is almost here: three weeks to Solstice on June 21st.
Chimney Swifts and Green Herons at the Quarry!
Evenings: Jupiter rises around 9 and Saturn follows. They will be fun to watch all summer near Scorpio and Sagittarius!
The Summer Triangle is in the northeast and moves straight overhead during the evening. If you can get away from the city lights, you can see the Milky Way running right through it down to Sagittarius, at the center of our galaxy far, far away...
Full Moon in June is on the 17th. July's is on the 16th.
Mornings: As the weeks go by we'll begin to see the stars of Fall and Winter in the early morning.
Photos are of the Blaz Memorial at summer solstice sunrise. A reminder that friends we have lost are still with us in spirit.
Have a great summer, get outdoors and look around!
