Sky Watch/May 2019
Cottonwood seeds starting to drift like snow on the wind..... Chimney Swifts and a Scissortail Flycatcher over the fields.....May is here; thunderstorms (and exams) are on the way!
Evening Skies :
Spring stars are high: The Big Dipper, Arcturus, and Leo the Lion.
Full Moon on the 18th.
Jupiter and Saturn are in the south, rising around midnight in the summer stars near Scorpio. Venus is bright, but disappearing in the sunrise. It will slowly move behind the sun and become an"evening star" for fall and winter.
At the Quarry:
Egrets, Barn Swallows, and maybe Little Blue Herons! Here's a photo of them visiting the Quarry two years ago....
Take a break and go outdoors when you can! PKL
