I am very excited to announce that the ESD Cheerleading Program is expanding to Middle School for the 2019-20 school year! This decision was made in conjunction with fall sports program directors, the Athletic department, and the ESD leadership team. We are confident that the expansion will benefit the cheer program, other fall sports programs, and most importantly, our Middle School athletes.
The Middle School cheerleading team will consist of 25-30 seventh and eighth grade athletes and will cheer at seventh and eighth grade home football games. Practice will be held days 1-6 during G period; 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.
The goal for the Middle School cheerleading program is to ensure that athletes are well-equipped with the required skills as they enter high school and tryout for the varsity or junior varsity teams. Safety of all athletes is our number one priority.
Team selections, led by Varsity and Middle School Head Coach, Chris Henson and myself, will be held August 20-22 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. in the Hart Gymnasium. Team placement emails will be sent at 4:30 p.m. on August 23. In order to make the team, an athlete must be present at tryouts. Those athletes that are not placed on the Middle School cheerleading team will be strongly encouraged to participate in another fall sport on the first day of school, August 27.
I am thrilled to be able to expand the cheerleading program and look forward to an incredible first season. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions via email, email@example.com.
