Sky Watch February 2018
Big temperature swings in January, but typical Texas: 60s to 20s!
Here are some good things to look for right now:
Evenings: Winter stars are at their best: Orion is in the middle of the winter hexagon high in the south.
Full Moon on the 19th. Hope you saw the lunar eclipse last month! (left)
Mornings: Great planets to the south and east: Venus is the brightest, Jupiter is close by, followed by Saturn, marking the plane of the ecliptic. Spring stars are up in the mornings. Before sunrise, you can see the Big Dipper and Arcturus straight overhead.
Quarry........Hundreds of little Cedar Waxwings fill the air, looking for berries almost every day! Lots of Red Tailed and Sharp-Shinned Hawks around, with wild ducks hiding from them on the Quarry.
Head outside and take a look!...... PKL
