Sky Watch for January: HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019, a cold/wet start!

Evening Skies:

The Winter Hexagon is in full view most of the night. It includes some of the brightest stars in the sky, and Orion is just inside it.

Full Moon on the 20th with a total Lunar eclipse! It could be great if the weather is clear. Best time for viewing around 9- 11.

Morning Skies:

Spring stars are up before sunrise now. The Big Dipper is high in the Northern Sky and the bright star Arcturus is almost overhead.

Venus is the big "Morning Star" in the southeast, with Jupiter catching up fast. Saturn will join them by the end of the month, and they'll line up along the plane of the ecliptic.

At the Quarry:

Great birds, including the tiny Ruby Crowned Kinglet! (below) Big flocks of Cedar Waxwings, with a Sharp-Shinned Hawk keeping an eye on them.

Make 2019 a better year by getting outside for a look around every day!!
