Congratulations to ESD student Christopher Talbot '19, member of Boy Scout Troop 577, who completed his Eagle Scout Project over the holiday break.
Talbot's project gives access to a portion of the Quarry which was previously difficult to access. He, along with ESD members of his Boy Scout Troop, built a path, stairs, and a "pad" along the Swann Building retaining wall next to the Quarry using cedar logs and wood chips. Surplus wood chips were laid down near the butterfly garden, in the outdoor chapel, and along a portion of the path from the outdoor chapel to the Gill Library. Additional wood chips were also spread in the raised garden area and in the chicken coop to ensure nothing went to waste.
The wood chips for the project were donated by Arborilogical Services of Dallas, Inc. With this new accessibility of certain areas of the Quarry, Director of Outdoor Education Eddie Eason is hopeful that it can be utilized in upcoming classes and projects.
