Posted 11/27/2017 12:00PM

The weekend before Thanksgiving, the ESD Youth and Government team competed in the District Conference at Duncanville High School and came away with several awards and individual recognition.

ESD earned special recognition in every section in which they competed which were Legislative, Appellate, and State Affairs, and had multiple students participating in the full floor settings. Please see below for the five students who earned awards at the District Conference, in addition to the incredible performances from their team members.

Nick Harapanahalli '20 earned Outstanding Delegate in State Affairs, as well as the Angie Baggett Award as the outstanding statesman for State Affairs. Sriya Dodda '19 and Zan Haq '20 earned Outstanding Delegate in Legislative. Wesley Banks '18 and Brian Jones '20 earned Outstanding Delegate in Appellate with their 2nd place finish.

"It was the best showing for our Youth and Government students at the District Conference in the five years I have been advisor," says Mark Oglesby. "I am very proud of them."

The Youth and Government team will be participating in the State Conference in Austin in late January 2018, where they will continue to work on their efforts to achieve Premier Delegation status for the fifth year in a row. Congratulations, Eagles!
