Seven students took on the Keller Debate Tournament this past week and came away with some big wins!
Nick Harapanahalli ’20 snagged the title of 1st Place Speaker and 2nd Place in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas debates. The Lincoln-Doulgas debate format (often abbreviated “LD”) is based on the actual debates between President Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas in the mid-19th century, and usually places a heavy emphasis on logic, ethics, and philosophy. Jiaying Fu ’21, a freshman new to the debate team, made it to quarters and received 6th Place Speaker.
The ESD Debate Team will take 15-20 students to their next upcoming debate tournament at Hockaday, and have one planned at UT Austin in the beginning of December as well.
Congratulations on your achievements so far Eagles, and good luck in your upcoming tournaments!
