The Forensic Chemistry class had a very special guest in their class this week! David Hoblit, a retired Dallas County medical examiner, came to speak to the students and told them all about his particular career. He told stories, showed photos, and event brought a real human heart!
The heart, he explained, was from a heart disease patient who also had cancer and he was able to show the students how the heart was affected and enlarged due to these health issues. Students were then able to hold, touch, and explore the heart if they chose, examining it in light of the information Mr. Hoblit had just told them. He also shared that, at the time of his retirement, his practice had completed over 4,000 autopsies!
A big thank you to David Hoblit for taking the time to visit. What an incredible opportunity for our students to learn about the field of medical examining firsthand.
