Sky Watch September 2017
Hot days, the Eclipse, and then Hurricane Harvey in August.....quite a month.
Nights are getting longer, so mornings are starting to cool off a little...
Labor Day this Monday and Equinox on September 22nd!
Jupiter is low in the west right after sunset. Saturn follows near Antares, in Scorpio.
Full moon is the night of the 5th-6th.
Venus still dominates the morning sky. Sirius , the "Dog Star," is well ahead of the sun now, signaling the end of the hottest days. You can see it in the southwest before sunrise.
At the Quarry: a Green Heron and an Egret hunting the other day..
Blue Winged Teal (below) are usually the first ducks to migrate in the fall. They are small and fast..... may splash down in a couple of weeks!
Hope we can all get outside and look around for awhile every day! ......... PKL
