While most students take summer internships at local businesses and offices, ESD student Gillian Campbell '18 spent her summer interning with the Dallas division of the FBI. This unique and exciting opportunity was one of many offered by the ESD WORX Internship Program, a program that matches rising seniors to summer internship opportunities based on their field of interest.
"It was a highly coveted opportunity," said ESD WORX Coordinator, Ian Feuer. "Almost every student I interviewed showed interest in working at the FBI."
Campbell snagged the sought-after spot, which she contributes to her strong desire to work for the Bureau after she graduates from college, and spent three weeks of her summer being involved in various aspects of the Dallas FBI field office. Among the many day-to-day tasks, Campbell also went to the FBI shooting range and shadow Dallas FBI Media Coordinator, Lauren Hagee, as she organized press conferences.
After her hard work this summer, Campbell was asked to introduce Dallas FBI Special-Agent-in-Charge Eric Jackson, before he spoke at the Success North Dallas conference yesterday morning. Her introduction of SAC Jackson and explanation of her internship earned her a standing ovation from the room. SAC Jackson's presentation offered a fascinating look in to the Dallas FBI division, and it was delightful to get an inside look at what Campbell's internship entailed.
Our students are doing amazing things this summer! Check out what Pete Sessions said about his seven ESD summer interns here.
