On Wednesday, August 16, members of ESD’s faculty and staff paused their in-service activities for a morning of community service activities with Children’s Hunger Fund. Together, they were able to assemble 500 food packs, sort produce seeds, and process toys for children during the Christmas season.
Dusty Davidson, ESD’s Fine Arts Department Chair, had a more personal connection to the cause. His twin brother, Rusty, works with Children’s Hunger Fund here in Dallas and beyond.
After the activity, Dusty shared, “I am overwhelmingly proud today on so many levels. To have the rare opportunity to share with you the inspiring work my brother, Rusty, and the staff at Children's Hunger Fund are doing, and to share with them the incredible friends and colleagues I have here at ESD is more profoundly meaningful and humbling to me than I have the words to fully express. I am so deeply proud to a part of this amazing faculty and staff for who you are and what you have done and do.”
Many faculty and staff members expressed similar thoughts of gratitude following the offsite activity. Spending time acting out one of our Founding Tenets, Service to Others, was an excellent way for us to begin our work together this year.
