One student per chapter is awarded the US Lacrosse Jackie Pitts Award, which recognizes a graduating senior who truly honors the game of lacrosse, is invested in the development of the game in her community, is an exceptional player who continually strives to improve her game, and is an exemplary member of her team. This year, Sydney Helbing ’17 was honored with this award for exemplifying the spirit of the game on and off the field, as well as being an outstanding student and valued role model in school.

The Strength & Conditioning Award, given by Jim Roney & his conditioning staff to honor two students and their extraordinary commitment to being physically fit and healthy by going above and beyond the requirements to aid in personal and team success, went to Lily Jackson ’20 and Donny Carty ’17.

Both the boys and girls varsity lacrosse teams were recognized and celebrated today for the SPC Championship wins. The girls varsity lacrosse team also just returned from the TGHSLL State Championship tournament this past weekend where they took home the top honor of State Champions. The boys varsity lacrosse team will compete this upcoming weekend in the THSLL State Championship tournament—good luck!

The ESD Crew team also competed last weekend at Regionals where they medaled in several categories. Katelin Gildersleeve ’19 won a gold medal in the womens varsity single event, Katelin and Katie Smythe ’18 won a silver medal in the womens varsity double event, and Katelin, Katie, Jensen Clardy ’17, and Izzi Harrington ’18 won a bronze medal in the womens varsity quad event.

Mason Gosslee ’19, Christian King ’19, Patrick Kerrigan ’19, and Will Beck '19 won a gold medal for their mens varsity second quad event, and Mason and Christian also won gold in the mens second double event. Niko Gies ’17, Grant Hemingway ’17, Tommy Hessel ’17, and Bryce Miltenberger ’19 also won a bronze medal in the mens varsity quad event.

A member of the mens varsity quad, Grant Hemingway ’17, was also recognized today as he signed his National Letter of Intent to row at the collegiate level at Temple University. His crew coach, ESD alumni Cait Dunn ’07, also rowed for Temple University. Other student-athletes who will be playing at the collegiate level next year and have already been announced can be found here and here.

We are so proud of all of our talented student-athletes! Well done, Eagles.
