Yesterday afternoon 16 student-led teams competed in the annual fundraising volleyball tournament hosted by the Middle School Student Council.
Students from grades fifth through eighth were welcome to sign-up in teams of six or seven players in order to compete for the grand championship. Those who lost their initial games were then able to play in the consolation bracket.
The concessions sold during the volleyball tournament were collected as one of the last Middle School Student Council fundraising efforts of the school year, and in just a few weeks, those funds will be donated to various causes and organizations. Checks will be presented to a national or international nonprofit, a local nonprofit, to the ESD Annual Fund, and also to ESD for the Science Building-- a five-year commitment of $2,016 each year which began last year. Next week, student council representatives will decide which nonprofit organizations, both national/international and local, will be selected as recipients.
This commitment to the ESD Founding Tenet of Service is inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see those values holding such importance to our Middle School students.
Congratulations to Team Minion for their first-place win in the Student Council Volleyball Tournament!
