In celebration of Easter this past Sunday, ESD Beginner students led two chapel services in their annual Carrying of the Crosses.
These services mark the 20th year this tradition has been enacted, dating back to when since-retired Beginner teacher Nancy Bloede crafted the idea. It allows ESD’s youngest students to celebrate their Episcopal Identity, one of our Founding Tenets, in an exciting and vibrant way.
The Beginners’ crosses allowed for a more colorful departure from their usual Daily Chapel services. They have been hard at work, incorporating subjects like art and fine motor skills into creating the most colorful crosses, and even delved into a leadership position as they opened chapel carrying their crosses down the aisle.
It’s remarkable to see even the youngest Eagles stepping up to the plate each year to carry on this delightful tradition. Happy Easter!
