Join us for a week of nothing but boy fun! Come and hang out with ESD's Mike Schneider (the world’s greatest handball player) to play sports and games on the Merrell Road campus. We play tons of sports and games, and even make up new ones! Work up a sweat then cool off on the water slide. It is pure fun at its best! Campers need to bring a lunch, bathing suit, and towel.

AMAZING RACE

Join us for a week traveling around the world! Each day we will face a variety of challenges in a different country, Amazing Race style. We will immerse ourselves in that country for the day and enjoy games, foods, crafts, culture and more! BASEBALL

Join Albert Najera, ESD's varsity baseball coach, for 3 days of skills and drills using our fantastic baseball facility. It's a great camp for players who want to improve their all-around skill level! Please bring a glove, cleats, and a bat if you have one. All pre-enrolled campers will receive a camp shirt.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Week 7 | Entering Grades 1 - 8 | 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | $265

Join ESD's three-time SPC champion coach, Corey Henderson, and his strong staff for their 10th annual camp. Prepare yourself for a fun-filled week of basketball! This camp is designed to give outstanding basketball instruction and will provide the basic fundamentals, excellent lectures, 1-on-1 and 5-on-5 games. This camp will also emphasize sportsmanship and character. Older campers will be introduced to more advanced concepts. Campers need indoor basketball shoes and should bring a lunch. BOYS OF SUMMER BASEBALL

Week 3 | Boys, Entering Grades 3 - 8 | 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | $265

Boys of Summer Baseball Camp provides an excellent opportunity for kids in grades 3-8 to be instructed in the fundamentals of the game. Campers will learn the fundamentals of throwing/pitching, catching, hitting, and base running, as well as more position-specific skills. Campers will also enjoy the competitive games that will be played during the camp. We take pride in developing campers to their fullest potential and aim to provide a positive, upbeat experience, that promotes competition, repetition, self-esteem, self-discipline, teamwork, and, most importantly, FUN! Campers need to bring a lunch and a water bottle.

Girls and boys will enjoy working with wood and various tools to enhance eye-hand coordination as they become familiar with the design process to create hands on projects. This class fosters respect for tools/ materials (hammers, nails, paints) while learning the value of cooperating with others. Splash time, daily recess and building with materials including Legos ensures a fun experience! Campers need to bring a lunch.

CAMP CREATE

Bring your creative camper to draw, paint, sculpt, build, sing, dance, and act. Campers will engage in a variety of hands-on activities using a wide range of materials to explore their artist within. Plan to get messy, have fun, and meet new friends. The sessions will culminate with a short drama production to showcase the week. Campers need to bring a lunch.

CAMP INVENTION

This year’s modules are:

Mod My Mini Mansion™ Campers will dream up and design their very own futuristic smart home filled with gadgets, LED’s, technology and innovation! Campers will make their own take-home mini mansions and explore renewable sources to power up their eco smart homes, discover the Internet of Things and how smart devices are connected and controlled and change letters into numbers using binary code to create a message. 

Robotic Pet Vet™ Animal shelters are reporting that malfunctioning robotic dogs have been popping up all over town!  Throughout this module, campers diagnose puppy problems and design and build dog parks as they hammer out ideas for the best dog park attraction. Campers will Use tools to take apart robotic dogs and compare their inner mechanics to the anatomy and physiology of a real dog, analyze simple machines and circuits used to make the dog move, bark and light up and customize their own robotic dog to take home! 

Optibot™ Campers will launch into the future with their own Optibot – a small self-driving bot that senses changes in light.  Exploring the technology behind transportation, children will design the ultimate futuristic vehicle that might one day be reality! Campers will design tracks for their bots to follow while exploring different modes of transportation, explore impact sensors using a small-scale crash test dummy and discover how sensors are used in vehicles and personalize their own line tracing robot to take home! 

Stick To It™ Campers will invent something new every day as they explore what it is like to be a physicist, engineer and entrepreneur.  Your young innovator will invent, make and craft solutions to real-world challenges by building their own prototypes and discovering that anything is possible. Campers will make their own dancing dinosaur using a mechanical gear box in the “Dance to Your Own Beat” challenge, build a plush cupcake catapult in the “It Will Be a Piece of Cake” challenge and explore chemistry, non-Newtonian fluids and magnetism as they investigate magnetic slime.

COMPUTER CODING IS FUN!

Calling all budding computer programmers! We will introduce your child to the essential building blocks associated with object oriented programming through creating interactive stories and games. Campers will begin the week learning software-building basics through Scratch, a platform created by MIT. By the end of the week, children will have created their very own multimedia project. Students will self-select their project each session. This camp is intended for those with little or no experience with Scratch or coding.  Campers need to bring a lunch.

PI IN THE SKY

Curious about computers and programming, or interested in building really cool things? Pi in the Sky is a camp based on the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi is a credit card-sized computer and is a great starting point for learning about programming. It’s low-cost, capable, and approachable for kids new to the concepts of programming. During the week, we will use Scratch to learn some basic programming fundamentals. Also we will learn about the Raspberry Pi while doing some hands on projects. Some project ideas include a weather station, a parent detector, a music streamer, or Minecraft for Pi - another way to learn the basics of programming. Everyone will take home a Raspberry Pi 3 Complete Starter Kit and a few good ideas!

A camp filled with all the things every youth needs and wants to “create” the perfect summer. Campers get to combine the best of five different camps offered by Fast Forward Kids. Our “creative” staff provides the instruction and all the materials for everyone to complete a day full of projects. Your child will embark on a day creating projects with Lego, learning the art of survival with survival tactics, theater arts, music, and art projects and techniques. Children will benefit by promoting self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposure, creativity, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. CR8 helps students to see what they look at, hear what they listen to, and feel what they touch. The focus of this creative camp is to express feelings through imaginative, innovative and original arts and skills. This camp is taught by an instructor from Fast Forward Kids.

DROBOTS DRONE STEM CAMP 1: DRONE RACING AND OBSTACLE COURSE CHALLENGE

Drone Racing is filled with pure action as students enjoy one of the world’s fastest

growing sports, Drone Racing. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through various skill challenges and learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Flight squads post up against one another in friendly competition when they race themselves and the clock. Students first maneuver the drone through creative obstacle courses before taking on the challenge of flying for speed. Participants contribute fully in this program as they create the design and help build the obstacle course in preparation for the last day’s final activities and competition. DROBOTS DRONE STEM CAMP 2: DRONE MISSION MANIA

It’s all about drone missions as campers will learn the basics of drone technology and safety before taking to the air to fly and code the drones through an abundance of missions. Throughout the week, instructors will pose various challenges that the campers must solve using drones. Missions include: Connect 4, Drone Basketball, King Kong, International Space Station Drone Docking, Harry the Hiker, and more. Students work all week long to prepare for the most enjoyable part of the week: the Ultimate Drone Games where students collaborate, strategize, and create their own drone missions and then compete against one another. From dynamic artwork to a très elegant tea party, you are sure to be astounded as we travel through all of the Fancy Nancy books. (Astounded is another word for amazed). FASHION DESIGNER

Young girls graduate from playing dress up to creating their own designs! They will express themselves with their own fashion sense by following the same design principles used by professionals. This includes basic sketching techniques, coordination colors for the best effect and mixing textures and patterns for perception and scale. Cultural fashion history will be applied to all the girl’s individual style and portfolio. Designs come to life with beautifully patterned fabric, ribbons, sequins, jewels, and oodles of other embellishments. Collaborative “design team” challenges make this hands-on, minds-on adventure into the world of design very exciting. For your child’s safety, no sewing is practiced in this class. This camp is taught by an instructor from Fast Forward Kids.

FIRST TEE DRIVE GOLF CAMP

Weeks 4 and 8 | Ages 6 - 10 | 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. | $150

The First Tee DRIVE Golf program combines learning basic golf and technique utilizing an innovative curriculum developed by The First Tee Golf Association. The program was created in association with the PGA, LPGA, Champions Tour and Masters Association. The curriculum focuses on the four basic shots of golf: putting, chipping, pitching and the full swing.  Each skill is reinforced with fun games and activities which vary each day. Equipment is specifically designed for young children, with oversized club faces, color coded grips, and target oriented training tools and alignment markings. Each activity empowers young people to explore their abilities and develop life-enhancing values along the way.  Perfect for the beginner golfer. This camp is taught by Kidokinetics coaches.

Want to unplug your kids for a week this summer? At Fun and Games camp, we are going to play a variety of board, card, trivia, word, thinking, memory, and outdoor team games. Each day campers will also use their creativity and game knowledge to create their own games to take home and play with their families and friends. Games are a great way to teach and reinforce math, reading, following directions, strategy, cooperation, and so many more critical skills. Get ready for a summer full of Fun and Games! FUN FOR GIRLS

Prepare for a week of all things girl! Movin' and Groovin' Monday will be filled with dance-offs, talent shows, and music. Touch of Art Tuesday will be filled with super-fun art projects. On PJ Wednesday wear your pajamas and our day will be filled with ideas and crafts to prepare for your next slumber party. Throwback Thursday will be spent playing games and making crafts that we older girls grew up with. Fashion Friday will end our week making fashionable accessories that your camper can take home! FUN WITH PAINT!

Have you ever wanted to splatter paint everywhere? Can you paint without a paintbrush? Wear old clothes and get ready to have FUN as we create, explore, learn and have FUN WITH PAINT. We will use different paints, textures and everyday objects to make painting come alive. This class is all about the process. Masterpieces will be yours to keep. GIRLS BASKETBALL

Join ESD’s Head Women’s Coach, Justin Bell, for a fun week of hoop. Have fun learning and refining the basketball skills of dribbling, shooting, passing, footwork and game competition. Learn basic fundamentals and advanced basketball skills and prepare for the next level! This camp runs Monday-Thursday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL 2

Week 10 | Grades 4 - 8 | 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. | $150

Join ESD's varsity volleyball coach, Laura Gomez, and her highly trained staff, for three days of volleyball. This camp will provide girls entering grades 4-8 with basic skill development including serving, passing, hitting, setting and blocking. Participants need indoor athletic shoes with non-marking soles, kneepads, and a water bottle. Volleyballs will be provided. All pre-enrolled campers will receive a camp shirt. This is a three-day camp (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday).

HOOPS, SCOOPS, AND SHOTS

Week 7 | Ages 3 - 6 | 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | $195

Hoops Scoops and Shots combines three popular coeducational sports into a fun packed week of interaction, fundamental skill building and just the right emphasis on fitness and exercise. Hoops includes fundamentals of basketball including passing, shooting, dribbling and basic game rules. Scoops includes an introduction to lacrosse, stressing skills development in cradling, passing, scooping and catching. Shots will include the highly popular USTA Texas Hot Shots tennis curriculum, which includes forehand, backhand, volley and serving combined with fun games to develop confidence in the skills. Physical components stressed are agility, accuracy, flexibility, balance, stamina, coordination and speed. This camp is taught by Kidokinetics coaches.

ITTY BITTY BOOK CLUB

Enjoy children’s books with art activities, creative drama, Word Wall and Pajama Day! Join Nancy Elliott as she shares her favorite books and love of reading…from classics to best sellers. Students will keep a journal as they learn about authors, illustrators, and characters. Past activities have included a nature walk, tea party, and watercolor masterpieces. From Blueberries for Sal to Where the Wild Things Are, this camp has something for everyone! Time will also be allotted for outdoor play and water slide. Campers need to bring a lunch, swimsuit, and towel.

KARATE AND SELF DEFENSE

Week 9 | Ages 6 - 12 | 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | $225

Dr. Nick Chamberlain and his team of expert instructors will lead students through a fun-packed program of karate, martial arts, and self-defense. This exciting camp will safely introduce students to the martial arts, as well as polish and expand the skills of those with previous experience. Activities cover all the important areas of karate including kicking, striking and blocking drills, self-defense techniques with a partner, personal safety tips, wrestling and ground work, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the history of martial arts, the appropriate use of new skills and much more! EINSTEIN BY DESIGN - AERIAL PHOTO

Einstein by Design’s Flight and Aerial Photography Workshop will involve completion of two main projects that involve flight. In the first half of the workshop, you will build rockets out of paper and launch them outdoors with our compressed air rocket launching pad. You will test different wings, nose cones, and rocket bodies to examine the engineering factors that determine how high a rocket will launch. In the second half of this workshop, you will build a rig to take aerial photography of nearby surroundings, and then create a digital storybook relating your experiences to share with your family and community. You will also be able to make your own camera, and explore geometric optics concepts in physics through photography. Campers need to bring a lunch.

We explore machine learning design and programming, along with Bluetooth technology to create a remote control car each student will design and take home at the end of the week. Campers need to bring a lunch.

TECH DETECTIVES

Computer Detectives get your magnifying glass ready and lets solve different cases at places like Cyber Space, Network Neighborhood and Keyboard Castle!  Detectives will unlock new, beneficial ways to use technology to be productive and solve meaningful problems.   Important S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) skills are introduced as they learn keyboarding, technology, reading and writing. They also have so much fun doing fun hands on projects to go along with the lessons. Internet safety lessons are incorporated as well. In addition, we integrate critical thinking and creative components throughout the software, giving them many opportunities to express themselves within the adaptive, personalized nature of the lessons.

BUILD AND BOOST

Week 8 | Ages 8 - 12 | 11:30 a. m. - 1:30 p. m. | $135

Fastforward Kids is merging the best in Lego bricks and coding with the wonder of building.  Build and Boost makes coding and building a great activity. So, what will you build and boost?  Learning to code with Build and Boost gives children the opportunity to use a physical problem-solving tool in their coding exercises.  Their code comes to life in ways they can see, hear, touch, and even chase across the room.  Through real-life STEM challenges and engaging physical and digital creations, this camp encourages children to develop 21st century skills through coding as they program solutions in a real-world context. Make new friends, build creative projects, code it, bring it to life and embrace what is soon to be one of the fastest growing technological career fields. This camp is taught by an instructor from Fast Forward Kids.

CIRCUS ARTS

Week 8 | Ages 5 - 8 | 2:00 - 4:00 p. m. | $135

 

Circus Arts Camp is a camp experience designed to introduce children to circus, performing, and visual arts in a safe and noncompetitive environment. Any level of physical development & skill is welcome.  Your camper will receive circus arts instruction and have the time of his or her life learning to perform with silks, special hoops and loops. Each camper will also learn the art of magic, balloon art and will get all fancy with clown face painting.  It’s the greatest camp on Earth and your child can be part of the fun! This camp is taught by an instructor from Fast Forward Kids.

NUMBER FUN

Week 7 | Entering Grades PK - K | 9:00 a. m. - 2:00 p.m. | $265

Number Fun is designed for young children to build their math foundation through games and manipulatives in a fun and engaging way. This class will be hands on as we play Bingo and work with cards, dominoes, and Legos.  Number recognition, counting skills, and math vocabulary will be emphasized. Campers need to bring a lunch.
