At ESD, we are igniting lives of purpose through the development of an educated conscience. To see our mission in action and experience what it means to be part of our community, join us for EXPLORE ESD, our showcase open house event for all prospective students and families.
Check in is open from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the School House Study Commons near the front entrance. Don't worry, there will be plenty of Eagles and event signage to help you get where you're going.
An optional chapel service begins at 12:15 p.m. followed by a welcome session, divisional and academic program overviews, and an assortment of interactive sessions for you to choose from.
All prospective parents are invited to attend, as well as prospective middle and upper school students.

- Gather in the Bray Theater with Tracey Shirey, Head of Lower School, and Amy Cuccia, Assistant Head of Lower School, to learn more about the ESD Lower School.
Middle School Overview

- Gather in the Haggar Gym with Jon Chein, Head of Middle School, and Allison Darnell, Assistant Head of Middle School, to learn more about the ESD Middle School.
Upper School Overview

- Gather in the Competition Gym with Matt Peal, Head of Upper School, Max Auge, Assistant Head of Upper School, and upper school students to learn more about the ESD Upper School.

Lower School Deep Dive
- Lower School
- Welcome to the Lower School! Come in and explore all three floors of the building. You'll have the chance to hear from lower school leadership, teachers, and students.
Academics and Nuts & Bolts

- Get the answers to all of your logistical questions here! Department chairs and division heads will be ready to speak to you about our curriculum as well as any other academic questions you might have. Representatives from our College Guidance, Tuition Assistance, Emotional Wellness and Learning Support, and Security teams will also be available to connect.
Outdoor Education
- Dining Commons Patio, outside
- Join in various outdoor activities to learn how ESD's outdoor education curriculum provides opportunities for students to make connections beyond the classroom.
STEM Experience
- Auxiliary Gym, Swann Center, second floor
- Participate in hands-on science experiments with our Science Department! Activities will include experiments and examinations in forensics, engineering/robotics, biology, and more!
Visual and Performing Arts
- Susan M. Frank Center for Arts & Humanities, first floor
- The Visual and Performing Arts session will provide an opportunity to drop-in and visit with some of our fine arts faculty and staff about our outstanding fine arts programs.

Who can attend? |
Prospective parents and/or guardians, prospective middle school students (applying to grades 5-8), and prospective upper school students (applying to grades 9-11).
The format of the event isn't recommended for prospective lower school students and we ask that they not attend.
