Toni Luc, Lower School Chaplain
How long have you been at ESD?
Just over a year.
What's your favorite class or project?
"I love fourth-grade religion class. For the most part, I narrate the story of the bible, and they are the ones who see the connective tissue of God’s promise to Abraham and the rest of the story. I like to see the light bulbs come on of scripture faith and their own personal journeys as well."
What's your favorite spot on campus?
"I love the Chapel early in the morning when the sun is rising, and the colors are sparkling all over the walls."
What's your favorite candy or sweet treat?
"I love soft ooey gooey brownies. For candy, anything chocolate and peanut butter."
Did you always know you wanted to be a teacher?
"No, I went to college to be a medical doctor."
"I have a goal of reading 100 books this school year."
"I watch youth soccer."
What do you love about ESD?
"I love the community. I love the sense that knowing one another's names is as important as knowing who you are. I love that people take the time to get to know a student and not just to teach them, to know who they are and empower them to be who God wants them to be. I love that everything starts with being children of God, and everything grows from that point."
What's 1 tip you would give to students?
"Never stop learning. Every area of life has a lesson to teach us."
