Nate Bostian, Senior Chaplain

How long have you been at ESD?

1.5 years.

What's your favorite class or project?

"I love teaching ethics and helping students learn the different models of thinking ethically and then putting those models to work in classroom-structured debates. We look at modern issues in society and the thinkers and viewpoints and the various things that go into ethical debates."

What's your favorite spot on campus?

"I love sitting in the Chapel in the morning and seeing the sunlight coming through the stained glass, casting the beautiful colors of the rainbow on the sides of the Chapel."

What's your favorite candy or sweet treat?

"Tiramisu."

Did you always know you wanted to be a teacher?

"No, I was surprised that God called me to be a priest. I got a profound sense that I could partner with God in healing the world by helping spiritually and ethically form His children. The most important thing in human life is our relationship with one another, and that God works through those relationships to help us use our gifts and talents to help make the world a better place."

Fun Fact.

"I love old-school rap music."

Hobby.

"Weight lifting."

What do you love about ESD?

"I love that it is a place where all the different aspects of human excellence are valued. Where there is a place for academics, athletics, the arts, spirituality, and science. That we see all of these things as contributing to the mosaic that God wants to mold our lives into."

What's 1 tip you would give to students?

"Ask your teachers interesting questions, not just 'will this be on the test', but ask them questions about the content."
