Spring Springs on the Lower School Tree Thanks to Upper School Student-Artists
Staff

Students from Intro to Studio Art and Intermediate Sculpture collaborated this week to gift a set of spring leaves to the Lower School Tree Place. The leaves were inspired by the Lacey oak, a Texas endemic (that means it only grows here) whose new leaves are plum and apricot-colored when they emerge, and a glaucus (that means dusty) blue-green when they mature.

In addition to providing a special focal point for the first floor of the Lower School Building and an indoor play area for our youngest Eagles, the tree is incorporated into lesson plans and weekly activities. Its leaves change in sync with every season, and each morning, our youngest learners gather at the tree for daily worship.

Special thanks to all of the student-artists and upper school sculpture teacher and Art Around Campus committee member Dane Larsen for working on this project.

Spring has sprung!
