Last weekend, ESD's varsity crew team competed in the USRowing Central Youth Championship. This event was one of seven regional regattas across the country, in which high school or club rowing teams can qualify boats for the USRowing Youth National Championship.
Based on their performance in this regatta, six of our student-athletes qualified for the National Championship that will take place in Sarasota, Florida next month! They competed against 26 other rowing programs in our region to secure their bids; the top three finishers in each event receive a bid to nationals.
The varsity (U19) women's quad took first place in their event and is comprised of Cren Boyd '23, Mia Harrington '23, Katherine Mote '23, and Sydney Stuelpe '23. The U17 men's double took second and is comprised of Bobby Massoud '25 and Chris Inglis '24, who are both first-year rowers!
“This group will gain an experience that will positively influence our team culture for years to come," says Head Crew Coach Adam Jones.
Congratulations on this tremendous accomplishment, Eagles. And good luck at Nationals in June!
