September Sky Watch Report with Mr. Lutken
Staff

Happy Labor Day! ...... Still hot, but nights are getting longer, so at least mornings will cool off a little as we head for the Equinox on September 23!

Evening skies: Jupiter is high and bright in the constellation Scorpio/southwest after sunset.  Saturn follows in Sagittarius.

Full moon is the night of the 13/14: the "Harvest Moon."

Morning Skies:

Sirius, the bright "Dog Star," is pulling ahead of the sun now, signaling the end of the hottest days.  You can see it in the southwest before sunrise, following Orion.

At the Quarry: Chimney Swifts swoop down low to grab a drink, red-eared sliders (turtles) poke their heads up to say hello.

The water is low, so look for a Green Heron prowling the banks. (see photo)

Hope we can all get outside and look around for a while every day!
