Cambridge University Press recently hosted a diversity and inclusion series for Latin educators focused on social justice and diversity in the Latin classroom. ESD’s Classical and Modern Languages Dept. Chair Jenn Jarnagin was selected as one of 10 Latin educators and hosted several discussions on inclusivity and representation in the classroom. View her presentations below:
- Latin is for everyone: 7 ways to incorporate inclusive images in your classroom
- Images and the power of reflection
- Combatting ableism in the Latin classroom
- Equity in assessment: grading and feedback in the inclusive Latin classroom
- 4 ways to question your Latin textbook
“While we know that images can help engage and support students in their learning, they also allow us to ensure that all students see themselves, their families, and communities in our classrooms,” said Jarnagin. “Simply put, representation matters.”
We are proud to have educators like Jenn leading and learning these important discussions!
