ESD Inducts 16 Seniors Into Prestigious Cum Laude Society
Staff

Sixteen students from the Class of 2021 were inducted into the prestigious Cum Laude Society during a ceremony at All Saints Chapel this morning. Founded in 1906, the Cum Laude Society recognizes students who have achieved superior academic achievement and promote excellence (Areté), justice (Diké), and honor (Timé). The Episcopal School of Dallas is one of only 14 Texas schools that have been granted a Cum Laude Society chapter and this is ESD's 13th year to induct members.

The new members are: Blair Batson, Katherine Cowser, Aidan Cox, Jackson Fricke, Jiaying Fu, Zander Knight, Lilly Lutz, Luke McCabe, Madison McCoy, Susanna Newsom, Penelope North, Henry Nurenberg, Ava Thompson, Clay Watson, Lauren Weber, and Evelyn Zhao.

Dr. Melissa Dowling, Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Professor at SMU, gave the keynote speech for the ceremony. She spoke about the three virtues of the society and how they were embodied in the Roman emperor and philosopher Marcus Aurelius.

Congratulations, Eagles!
