ESD would like to welcome John Franklin as ESD's new Girls Basketball Program Director. John brings with him 16 years of coaching experience at the high school & collegiate levels and was a 3-time SPC champion while serving as an assistant on the staff of current Boys Basketball Program Director Corey Henderson.

While earning his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, John was a member of the men's basketball program at the University of North Texas. After his graduation, he joined Coach Henderson's staff at ESD, where he spent 6 years working with the boys basketball program before joining the collegiate ranks, taking over as the Head Coach of Women's Basketball at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX. John moved up from the NAIA to NCAA Division III when he joined the coaching staff at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting/Video Coordinator with the Women's Basketball Program. While at Trinity, the team won the SCAC Conference title while earning an NCAA DIII Tournament berth. John returned to the Dallas-area for an opportunity to coach at a DI program, joining the staff at Southern Methodist University as an Assistant Coach. During his time at SMU, the program earned a NCAA DI Tournament berth. After returning to his alma mater (UNT) for a stint as the Director of Basketball Operations, John took over the Girls Basketball program at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, TX. After 3 years at TCA, he spent last year as an Assistant Coach with Yavneh Academy in Dallas, winning a TAPPS State Championship in the process.

"We are thrilled to welcome John Franklin to ESD's basketball program.  John brings tremendous experience and skills to our program and we are looking forward to the continued growth of our program under his leadership," said Dan Gill, Director of Athletics. "I am confident John's talent, commitment to our mission and vision will strengthen our entire program."

John earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Incarnate Word. Away from the court, John is married to wife Jennifer, and together they have 2 daughters, Ava & Harlowe.
