In recognition of the role and impact of The Episcopal School of Dallas in her life, Sterling Deason O’Donnell '91 P'29, '31 speaks to supporting endowment.
What inspired you to make a gift to The Campaign for The Episcopal School of Dallas?
I attended ESD in the early years. What I learned and achieved while there shaped who I am today. I have such fond memories of my time at ESD and the friendships as well - these friends are still my best friends today. I want my children, and every student, to get the chance to have experiences similar to mine.
Why give to endowment?
When I entered ESD in 1984, it looked a lot different! I have enjoyed watching the school continue to grow and transform to become one of the most respected schools in Dallas. All that have graduated from ESD have a confidence about them like no other. Supporting the endowment allows ESD to strengthen its foundation, continue Father Swann’s vision, and further its success for years to come. Moreover, watching my kids experience the same joy I did at ESD made it easy for us to want to participate in supporting the endowment.
Describe the purpose of your endowment fund:
The Deason Family Permanent Endowment Fund will fortify Academic Support including faculty salaries, training, and academic programming. In giving to endowment, our family helps The Episcopal School of Dallas continue to provide an exceptional learning experience for today and for the future.
What advice would you offer to inspire others to consider establishing an endowment fund?
I truly believe that any child that attends ESD flourishes by being a part of this community and grows in more ways than just academics. My family wants to be a part of the growth and success of the school going forward.
