Pre-K Pals Use Engineering Skills to Build Bridge for Bearded Dragon Friend
Staff

Update:

Pre-K pals used their engineering skills to build bridges for Maggie to play on. Using classroom materials like cardboard, pipe cleaners, and cups, students discussed how to make their bridge “sturdy & safe for Maggie” to use. Maggie tested out the bridges and seemed pleased with her new habitat and friends.

Great work, engineers!

Dragons Take Over Lower School

Guest-dragon Juliette:

Today, the Lower School welcomed two new community members, Maggie and Chunk. They are bearded dragons. The dragons' arrival was met immediately with curiosity and joy and spurred a significant uptick in dragon-related book requests in the library. The librarians are currently preparing paired read-alouds for fiction and non-fiction dragon content!

"They are so cool, and they are going to live with us forever. ESD is their new home!" exclaimed one PreK friend.

"They make me feel so happy and excited to see them every day!" declared another.

“We are going to keep them for a hundred million years!” asserted another.

Our bearded dragon friends are located on our first floor in the Early Childhood Science Discovery Lab. You can also view them in a live stream located here.

Maggie and Chunk are a gift from ESD's English Department Chair Tolly Salz and her family. Thank you, Salz Family!

Another One Spotted! Update:

Guest-dragon Juliette visited Ms. Coble's Pre-K classroom Friday. Friends delighted at creating a space for their new acquaintance and learning more about the reptile.
