The holiday season is here, and with it come many community events! ESD has a full calendar of events, performances, and service opportunities this year. Please see below for details and dates of exciting festivities! 

Many thanks to all Eagles and community members who donated to the Prism Health Thanksgiving Food Drive earlier this month!


November 30 - December 10: Teddy Bear Drive Benefiting Toys for Tots

  • Dance students will be collecting new teddy bears to donate to Toys for Tots this holiday season. 
  • Collection boxes will be located in the Study Commons, the Lower School, and outside the Bray Performance hall starting Tuesday, November 30. 
    • OR, bring a bear to the Middle and Upper School Holiday Dance Performance on Thursday, December 2!

December 1-10: Fifth Grade Class Fundraiser for 'Paper for Water'

  • A focus of the fifth-grade curriculum is natural resources. The fifth-grade class has a goal of raising $500 to build a water well in a developing country of their choice based on current needs. The deadline to donate has since passed. 

December 1-14: St. Phillip's Christmas Dinner Collection and Angel Tree Project

December 1-9: Senior Class Capstone Christmas Gift Drive Benefiting Community Partners of Dallas

  • The Class of 2022 has selected Community Partners of Dallas for their service capstone project this year. In lieu of the St. Philip's Angel Tree Project, this year, seniors will be collecting toys for CPD's Christmas Toy Drive from December 1-9. Donation boxes are located near the two Christmas trees in the Study Commons. Click here for more information. 

December 2: Tree Decorating: Fifth Grade and Senior Buddies

  • Seniors and their fifth-grade buddies will be hanging the ornaments they created last month on the Christmas tree in the Study Commons. Buddy pairs are invited to wear holiday sweaters. 

December 2: Middle and Upper School Holiday Dance Performance

  • Our students will share their talent with the ESD community at 6:00 p.m. in the Bray Performance Hall.

December 3: Middle and Upper School Dancers Perform at the Galleria

  • Our students will share their talent with the Dallas community.

December 3: Fall Spotlight Showcase for Eighth Grade Theatre

  • Eighth-grade theatre will present its Fall Spotlight Showcase at 2:00 p.m. in the Prothro Black Box Theater.

December 6: Lower School Strings and Middle and Upper School Orchestra and Band Holiday Concert

  • Strings, band, and orchestra students from all divisions will perform in the Bray Performance Hall at 5:00 p.m. 

December 7: Upper School Choir Caroling Trip

  • Upper School Choir students will go on a caroling trip to NorthPark. They will perform at 2:00 p.m. near the escalator and sculpture. 

December 7-9: First Grade Nativity Musical

  • Each first-grade class will perform a nativity-themed musical for their friends and family on the Rogers Family Community Staircase.
    • December 7: Bingham and Boyce Classes at 9:30 a.m.
    • December 9: Cornwell and Frymire Classes at 9:30 a.m.

December 8: Lessons and Carols

  • This time-honored ESD tradition will take place in the Competition Gymnasium. Grades 5-12 will attend and sit by advisory.

December 9: Middle School Choir Caroling Trip

  • Middle School Choir students will go on a caroling trip to the Galleria at 2:00 p.m.

December 10: Fall Improv Show for Seventh Grade Theatre

  • Seventh-grade theatre will present their Fall Improv Show at 10:30 a.m. in the Prothro Black Box Theater.

December 13: Fall Devised Theatre Show for Sixth Grade Theatre

  • Sixth-grade theatre will present their Fall Devised Theatre Show at 1:00 p.m. in the Prothro Black Box Theater.

December 14: Primer Musical

  • Primer students will present their annual musical at 10:00 a.m. on the South Playground.

December 14: Shadow Theatre Watch Party for Fifth Grade Theatre

  • Fifth grade will host their Shadow Theatre Watch Party at 2:40 p.m. in the Prothro Black Box Theatre. 

December 15: Sixth Grade Christmas at Wolf Run

  • Sixth graders will travel to Wolf Run.

December 16: Fifth Grade Service Trip

  • Fifth graders will visit various nonprofits around Dallas.

December 16: Sixth Grade Delivers to St. Philip's

  • To wrap up their service-learning project on food insecurity, sixth graders will visit various food banks and pantries around Dallas before delivering their collected Christmas Dinner boxes to St. Philip's Community Center. 

December 16: Lower School Grinch Day

  • Lower school students, faculty, and staff are invited to wear green or pajamas in honor of Grinch Day. 

December 17: Lower School Christmas Services

  • Our annual Lower School Christmas Services are filled with beautiful performances by lower school students. Students will be dismissed immediately following their performances.
    • Early Childhood Service (Beginner - Primer) at 9:00 a.m.
    • Elementary Service (First - Fourth Grades) at 10:00 a.m.

December 23: Alumni Lessons and Carols

  • Alumni will host their second ever Alumni Lessons and Carols at 6:30 p.m. in All Saints Chapel.
