Artists: Beginner, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Primer Students
About the Work: Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 - October 15 and our youngest learners have come together to celebrate in many ways. In CAST classes, one way we learned and celebrated was by reading “Paletero Man” by Lucky Díaz. The book is not only about buying paletas, but about a community coming together to help out those in need. In Early Childhood, Art we decided to focus on that strong sense of community.
Beginner, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Primer came together to build a community that represented us. Our young artists discussed what structures we could find and create that would build a strong community. Certain buildings were personal, while others were what we noticed daily. Some structures were apartment buildings, houses, fire stations, police stations, the Children’s Hospital, the Reunion Tower, Big Tex, art museums, the Perot Museum, hair & nail salons, a vet clinic, vehicles, food trucks/carts, and so much more!
